Joe A. Gonzalez

Joe A. Gonzalez is presently serving his second term as Nueces County Commissioner for Precinct Two. Commissioner Gonzalez was elected in November 2010, to a four-year term through 2014. Precinct Two includes Bishop, Petronila and the southwest and part of the southeastern part of Corpus Christi.

Prior to taking office, Gonzalez had a 21 year career with the U.S. Department of Justice where he worked probation, parole and bureau prisons. He retired in 1999 and was elected Nueces County Justice of the Peace for Precinct 1, Place 1 for nine years. He was instrumental in initiating and developing the Truancy Reduction Alternative Program Solutions known as TRAPS which incorporated various tools to help the schools with the poor school attendance and truancy epidemic in our community. Gonzalez has been a strong advocate of education and has a history of extensive volunteerism, community involvement and public service in the community.

Gonzalez and his wife, Linda Gonzalez, have three daughters and four grandchildren.
