Every 10 years Texas livestock producers are required by law to re-record their brands and earmarks if they intend to continue using them. Re-recorded brands and other marks must be recorded with the County Clerk during the period beginning September 1, 2001, through February 28, 2002. Producers will be given a six-month period in which to register these brands and marks and the location on the animal which they are currently using, after which time any unrecorded brand will be available for use on a “first-come” basis.
The owners will have an application to fill out. The filing fee for issuing and recording a brand is $11.00.
