Nueces County reported Saturday that out of 187 tests conducted at the Memorial Hospital parking lot on Friday, June 19, for Nueces County employees and their dependents, one Nueces County employee has tested positive for COVID-19. This employee works at the District Clerk’s office. Three results are still pending. This testing was in addition to an earlier testing of Nueces County employees conducted at the Health District parking lot on Wednesday, June 17.
Additionally, four Nueces County employee dependents tested positive for COVID-19 within the results. The employees in contact with the dependents who tested positive work in the following offices: District Attorney, Social Services, District Clerk, and County Attorney.
The results immediately triggered contact tracing efforts and protocols regarding isolation, quarantine and sanitization of the office spaces affected.
Additionally, testing conducted as a result of an employee at the Nueces County Robert N. Barnes Regional Juvenile Facility testing positive resulted in one additional employee and one of the 16 residents testing positive. Similar contact tracing, isolation, quarantine and sanitization protocols are underway to protect the health and safety of those connected to the facility.
The individual working for the Nueces County Appraisal District who tested positive for coronavirus is currently self-isolating at home and the county is taking necessary disinfecting measures.
Nueces County government is fully functional via remote work procedures instituted earlier during the pandemic.
Nueces County is committed to ensuring the safety of all employees, and will take necessary action to protect personnel, their families, and the community.
