Maria M. Bedia began working for Nueces County in October 1998, hired under a grant for the former Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program as a seasonal clerk in the Sheriff’s Office. From then, she held several increasingly responsible positions within the Sheriff’s Office prior to leaving her position as Office Manager and accepting the position of Grants Writer/Coordinator in the Grants Administration Department in November 2009. Nine years later, in November 2018, the Nueces County Commissioners Court appointed her as the County’s Grants Administrator. She is a certified contract administrator for Texas Department of Agriculture’s Community Development Block Grant program. Maria earned a Master of Business Administration Degree from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio in May 2013.
Description of Office
It is vision of the Nueces County Grants Administration Department to continually provide first-rate grants administration services to the departments within Nueces County for the betterment of the County as a whole. We are committed to serving all County departments in providing grant support from the application phase to implementation and finally, project closeout. We understand that the welfare of our citizens is a priority and that grant funding can be a useful tool in making a potential project into a reality. We encourage successful collaborations between our office, other departments and external partners to ensure quality work and to improve our success rate in obtaining grant funds that ultimately provide a great service to the County and its citizens by saving taxpayer dollars.
